Bark For Life 2014
You may or may not know that last year was the inaugural year for the Delphos Animal Hospital Bark for Life (BFL). This is a mini-relay held in conjunction with the Delphos Relay for Life to serve as an additional fundraiser for the American Cancer Society (ACS). With our help last year, the Delphos Relay for Life surpassed $1 million in funds raised since its inception over a decade ago. For the size city that we live and work in, that number is phenomenal and we at Delphos Animal Hospital are thrilled to have been a contributor to that monumental goal!
Our first year as a Bark for Life sponsor was highly successful as we raised over $7500 and were the second highest BFL fundraiser in the entire state of Ohio! Only the city of Cincinnati outdid our efforts in 2013 so we are more than proud of our community and its BFL success! Part of our fundraising this year includes selling T-shirts custom made by Fusion Graphics, Ft. Jennings, Ohio. Purple shirts with white print or white shirts with purple print are available for purchase and for order. We also have paw print die cuts to honor pets or their people for a $1.00 donation. To date, we have raised nearly $1000.00, but we have a long way to go to surpass our last year’s efforts.
The American Cancer Society “Bark For Life” (BFL) Mini-Relay is a full ACS Relay fundraising event that will honor the care giving qualities of our canine “Best Friends.” It presents an opportunity for people to be empowered through their canine companion partnerships and to contribute to cancer cures through the mission of the American Cancer Society.
Canine Caregivers are Canine Companions, Guide Dogs, Service Dogs, Rescue Dogs, Therapy Dogs, Police Dogs, Cancer Survivor Dogs, and Diagnostic Dogs, who with their owners, are joining the American Cancer Society as Relay teams and participants to celebrate cancer survivorship, to honor people lost to cancer, to fundraise in support of cancer research, education, awareness, patient services, advocacy, and to help eliminate the suffering that cancer causes worldwide.
We are reaching out to you to ask for your assistance for the 2014 Delphos Animal Hospital Bark for Life campaign as we hope to meet and beat our 2013 fundraising efforts. We would love for you to be a Delphos BFL team Captain with a minimum fundraising goal of $100. We have found this goal to be easy to meet simply by registering yourself for $10 and then asking at least 10 other people to be on your BFL team by contributing at least $10 each. You are not required to participate in the actual BFL Dog Walk being held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Leisure Park in Delphos, but we would certainly love to see you there!
The renowned Delphos Creamery is once again partnering with us at the walk to provide ice cream for BFL participants. And, we will have FREE brats and hot dogs courtesy our clients, Pam Wade and Jane Irwin. The Lima Police Canine Unit will be in attendance to show off their many talents, and treats and pedicures for the canine walkers will also be available.
